Robert Petraglia (Of Counsel)

Robert is an experienced litigator who has successfully represented his clients in a wide array of matters in state and federal courts. His background ranges from commercial disputes and consumer class actions to civil rights cases and tax controversies; and his clients have come from many industries including consumer electronics, food and beverage, health and beauty, and telecommunications. Robert has won cases through motions practice and at trial, and has negotiated favorable settlements on his clients’ behalf.

Before joining Alto Litigation, Robert was Counsel at two San Francisco-based boutique firms, and an associate at Morrison & Foerster, LLP.

Representative Matters

Achieved dismissal of a Declaratory Judgment Act suit seeking invalidation of a coffee company’s trademarks.

Successfully represented a confection manufacturer in a breach of contract suit through trial.

Acquired a refund of tax penalties that were improperly imposed on six boutique hotels at trial.

Defended a joint defense group comprising dozens of coffee companies from claims under California’s Proposition 65.

Defended one of the world’s largest consumer electronics companies against claims of fraud, unfair competition, breach of contract, and breach of warranty brought by a putative class claiming they had been improperly billed for music downloads.

Defended an email service provider against claims they violated user’s privacy.

Represented a large consumer electronics company in a billion-dollar intellectual property dispute encompassing multiple patents and trademarks.
